We where giving a task, to make a horror trailer due to our project/theme being about horror films, as a group. In my group it consists of me (Sadie), Shirwa, Hamza and Jake. We came up with a short horror story first about three best friends who vandalized an abandoned medical center. Where they discover a red door that held a small, locked, ancient box. That is when one of the boys unleashes the Unwanted Visitor.

We all had our own parts to do in this task. I was the director, Jake the camera man, Shirwa the editor as well as stared in the trailer and Hamza also stared in it. And other background cast members. I found this task enjoyable and life learning.

Wix

In Martin’s lesson we had to make a Horror film website on Wix.com. In the website we had to upload imaged, video’s and information about horror. In the process we learnt how to make a website and how to use other people’s work only if we source it or find one that don’t mind sharing or others to use on their site.

I found this to be a good education and fun experience for me, since I look forward to use my new skill’s and knowledge in my future life.

The thing i found difficult was that it took time and you had to look for information carefully so that it doesn’t classify as stealing other people’s work.

Martin – Giff Image

Posted: April 23, 2015 in Videos/Trailers

In one of Martins lessons, we learnt how to make giff images. Where we had to take a video of us not moving except one part of us or an object. So it’s a still image with only one object moving in the picture.

In this video, I choose two people doing two different things from each other, to make it more unique and different from the rest.

The thing I liked about this task was the fact that it doesn’t take long to do or take a video which only lasts about ten seconds.

But the thing that I found quite difficult was that we had to edit it in Photoshop, which I did but can’t find it now.

Over all the experiment was good, I liked working on this task ’cause it was fun and easy.

Different types of microphones gather sound in varying ways and there are three basic audio patterns.

  • Omni-directional
  • Cardioid
  • Uni-directional

Microphones are tools. Some do some things, some do others, some do some things well and others the same but not as well. There are a few great overall mics to have but there’s a reason for the wide array – depends on the job.

Shotgun Microphone

This microphone are great for pinpointing the exact audio you want without the problem of audio interference from surrounding ambient noise. The mic can be manually held  using a boom pole or attached to a boom stand. This microphone is usually used anywhere due to it’s manually held with the video camera and has good hearing range.

Handheld microphones

This microphone is typically what you see local TV reporters using. They are useful for “run and gun” type of situations meaning that its useful when your walking or running around with.

Dynamic microphone

For this video/interview I used a Dynamic microphone. This microphone is usually used for singers during a concert or show.  They are the hammer and screwdriver in the tool chest since they can be used on absolutely everything through there are some parameters. Dynamic microphones are usually best used close to the source but not too distant for the sound. Dynamic microphones are not very good with subtle stuff or with something that needs more “air”, room or ambiance. They generally have a cardiogram pattern to what they “hear”.

The Chase Scene – Final

Posted: December 12, 2014 in Videos/Trailers

This is Mine, Khayda’s and Simran’s Chase scene video. Simran is the Camera woman whilst me and Khayda are the actors. In this video I have the role of the thief/antagonist and Khayda’s the victim/protagonist, where I steal his phone and run away from him.

I really enjoyed filming this video as it came out better than we predicted but to improve we could og added some sound track to make it more interesting.

Shot Size and Movement Videos

Here are the links for the videos we have made of different types of shot size’s. In the shot size’s video there is: long shot, mid shot, close-up, mid close-up and extreme close-up.

The next video shot is of a Tracking shot. We have used a different person for this shot size.

For this final video, we did a pan and tilt shot.

Each shot had to be filmed and edited together identifying each one using the title function on Adobe Premiere.
