fifty shades of grey

In Richards lesson we all where giving a task to make a magazine cover and we got to choose what the magazine cover can be. I chose my cover to be about Fifty Shades of Grey, since one of my friends have read the books and i have watched to movie. My cover was mainly focusing on Jamie who plays Christian Grey (the main actor) in the movie. I talk about the hype of the fans, movie and the book towards the views/target audience and why their are so interested about this movie.

I chose class mate, Khayada to be as my model as Christian Grey for my magazine. I chose him because he has a good features that match almost to the actual actor in the movie.

I made my Magazine cover mostly in Indesign and Photoshop for the small images.

50 shades pic

This is the Second book to Fifty Shades Saga, Fifty Shades Darker.

Taking a picture of my own at home, I took a pic of the grey party mask to make it look almost or exactly like the book Fifty Shades Darker.

Uploading it to Photoshop I played around with the brightness and added text, the books name and writer, to make it look more original.

The link above is a PowerPoint about all the research i have done into looking for information on Fifty Shades Of Grey.

Magazine Analysis

Slide1

We had to analysis a magazine cover and talk about the layout, bar-code, slogan/skyline, colour theme, direct address, main image, masthead, price etc.

I chose GQ magazine because its a well know and one of the best selling magazine in the world, with Channing Tatum as the main character.

The advantage about doing this task is that we had a sheet of paper to help us with it so i found it easy.

The disadvantage about doing this task is that there was no disadvantage. 🙂

Music Video Research & Planning

Researching 3 or more different genre of music video’s, I analysed each one in a power point presentation.

I analysed the narrative of the video, the props/costume being used, who was being represented, how the action of the video matched the music, the camera angles/shot’s and the lighting or special effects used in the video.

I found this task to be easy for me because i like range of different music.

But I could have analysed a few more videos to give me a better prospective on music video’s.

Mood Board

magazine cover collage

Mood board on different magazine film covers with different Masthead’s, as well as some of the best movie poster’s.

I saved images from Google and opened them all on Photoshop. Re-sizing the images I spread them out randomly on a blank, black, landscape background. Then I added Mastheads that seems appropriate for a film magazine.

The thing i liked about this was the fact that it was easy to do and get it done.

But i could have added more Mastheads to give me a range of ideas for later use.

horror poster 2 landscape

This is my second Horror poster Portrait of my own to see how I do with creating a low-key lighting image by using 3 point lighting technic. For this picture to look scary and horrifying I used my own costume, hair and make-up. I let my hair down due to the fact that in all horror movies the antagonist always have they hair down and let loose to create more of a thriller face. On my eye’s I put on bright green contacts on my left eye and I put on royal blur spiked with black tips on the right eye, to make the eyes standout and look weird to create a more spooky and shocking look to it. For my face I create these blooded, peeled skin effect to make it realistic as well as show that the antagonist/girl is turned into something else, which gives the viewers a sence of fear which is what im going for due to the fact that in the horror genre it often concentrates on the audiences hidden fears and nightmares. After taking pictures in my Samsung camera, I uploaded them on the computer and then edited them on Photoshop.

I also copy and pasted an image from Google images to create that special effect, to make my poster more unique and different.

Then i added the title/heading, director, editor etc to make it seem more of a film/movie poster.

Horror Poster 2 – Main poster

Horror poster 2 Final

This is my second Horror poster of my own to see how I do with creating a low-key lighting image by using 3 point lighting technic and how I improved it from my first poster.

In this Poster I took two images from google.com, the outstreched hands with scars and blood on them and the cracked hole. By using the colour balance and hue saturation for the outstreached hands I created an even more blooded and blue-ish effect to make it standout and more 3D. But for the cracked hole I left it the same, since I liked it to stay the same.

Then I added the title of the movie ‘UNWANTED VISITOR’ in red beacuse red repesents blood and death, at the top with blood dripping down from it. And for the finishing touch added text at the bottom of the director, producer, main cast etc. And two logo companys thats going to be sponsoring the movie.

Horror Poster

horror poster done

We were told to make a Horror poster of our own to see how we do with creating a low-key lighting image by using 3 point lighting technic. I used about 4 layers, one layer was the red background theme from google to match with my image, the next (2) layer was of my image that i had used the Quick Selection Tool to cut out the background and just get the face and a bit of the hair before dragging it to the main background of the poster and putting it on the left side of the page. On the 3rd layer I used the Elliptical Marquee Tool to create a circle ontop of the second layer and used the Hue/Saluration to get the lightness of the image to go darker. Then for the last layer (4) I used the colour balance to create a more weird and unimaginable face making the viewers get drown and interested on the poster. The colour red represent blood and death which makes the poster into a Horror poster. Then I added the title ‘Unwanted Visiter’ using the Viner Hand ITC font and out it next to the image to make it seem more as a movie/film poster. Also adding who it’s by, who is starring in it and the production companies at the bottom of the title. For the finishing touch I added two logo companies at the bottom as well to show who is supporting this movie.
